How it Works

Signing up to e-Library is easy and secure.

  1. Register your account

When you register online for the first time, simply follow the step-by-step instructions. You can track your progress on a bar at the top of the web page, from STEP 1 to STEP 5. This is how it works:

  • Click on the “Register” tab, located at the top of every page.
  • Complete the Registration detail, (STEP 1).
  • Select your subscription option (the number of Library cards needed) and subscribe with your internet authorised (chip and PIN) banking card.  Subscription fees are as follows:
    • One Library Card – R85 per month
    • Two Library Cards – R160 per month
    • Three Library Cards – R230 per month
    • Four Library Cards – R300 per month
    • Five Library Cards – R360 per month

In STEP 2, your option is confirmed for your review.

In STEP 3 you can enter your billing details. You will be directed to the Paygate website to enter your credit card, debit or cheque card detail. Please ensure that the cards are activated for online use. If you subscribe during the promotion (first month free) month, you still need to enter your credit card details, but payment will only be affected after the free month.

Note: You will at this stage receive an email confirmation of the commercial transaction.

In STEP 4 you capture each of the users the details that will be making use of the library (e.g. your children).

At STEP 5 the user is issued with a unique library card number, which will appear on the with which to access the library.

  • For each person a unique library card number will be issued that each of them will need to access the library.
  • Connect to the library via the “Enter Library” link on each page. You can also access the library via the OverDrive app, available from the relevant appstore.
  1. You’re ready to Read

Connect to the library via the “Enter Library” link on the web page. You can also access the library via the OverDrive app, available from the relevant Appstore. Enter the library card number, select e-Library in the Overdrive platform.

  1. Managing your account

If you wish to add, remove or change a member (Library card holder) at a later stage, change your method of payment such as changing to a new bank card, you can do this by logging into your account

  1. How the Library functions

Because we are utilising OverDrive, one of the world’s leading online library providers, the technology and systems we use are tried, tested, safe and reliable. Our books and resources are readily accessible on your computer, tablet or smartphone utilising the app or reading directly in your browser. There is no additional cost to the user in utilising the OverDrive service and resources. e-Library pays all fees and costs as applicable directly to OverDrive.

We make sure that use of our services by members is quick, easy and hassle-free so that when members sign in, there’s no frustration or stress when it comes to selecting material and checking them out. Technical and online support is also available.

Members can access five books simultaneously at any given time, with a loan period of up to 14 days. The number of books is limited to 15 in a 7-day cycle and there are thousands of great titles available, our library has something for everyone.

With our handy online library, you never need to worry about lost, damaged or stolen books and you need never fuss with library fines ever again! You can also enjoy e-Library from the comfort of your home, in your car or at any destination you or your family visit. You need an internet connection to download the book, but after that, no internet is required to access the material.

You will be directed to the Paygate website (secure site) to enter your credit card, debit or cheque card details. Please ensure these cards are activated for online use.

If you don’t have a credit/debit or cheque card to use on the Paygate site please e-mail us on info@e-library.co.za for assistance and other payment options.
